15th Reunion Notes

What up dawgs?

Paul here with a very few notes about the recent 15th Reunion.

First of all, are all of you as conflicted as I about these things? When I was at Harvard, I savagely critiqued the University establishment and the fossils who went to Reunion. Now, even 15 years after graduation, I find that the four years I spent as a student here still loom pretty large in my consciousness. I have a lot of nostalgia for that time (always a dangerous thing, non?). Everytime I hear some bit of eighties new wave, I have a bit of a memory event. Heard The Chills' Heavenly Pop Hit the other day and swooned. Swear I saw Matt Steinglass kicking across the Yard in black combat boots.

Mostly, I guess, I miss the people. I'll never again take for granted a truly stimulating conversation.

Anyway...

On an absolutely sweltering day I hit Misha Glouberman's gig for alums who feel weird about Harvard. I thought it would be a specifically Class of 1990 event, but it was for everyone. Folks names were picked "out of a hat" (sort of). For six minutes, an alum sat at the bottom of Science Center A while audience members fired questions about their Harvard experience at them more or less at random. Misha audio taped it (no video). He looked a bit thicker in the neck and across the middle. Otherwise, same Misha. Very funny. Very smart. Bit manic.

I also briefly hit the BGLT reception at the Murr Center, to which I was invited by Michael Wartofsky. In an uncomfortable twist of fate, my fiancee Sara was virtually the only woman in the room. Michael was gracious (as always) and looks quite healthy and happy. Jarrett Barrios showed up (one of several officials from the Massachusetts State Government).

That's pretty much it for the Reunion notes. I'm well. Just returned from the best vacation of my life (Assisi). Planning a wedding for the fall. The weather is finally warming up and I plan to spend as much time as possible this summer on the North Shore, where I grew up.

Hope to read about you all in this blog.

Peace,
P.

Welcome to the Adams House Club

Hey folks: Farai here. I thought it would be great for us Adamsians to have a spot on the world to connect. I'm lucky to see lots of you often. Went to the Brooklyn Museum's Basquiat exhibit with Paula Puhak; saw Pam Ling and Maria Troy in the Bay, where I lived until recently; ran into Jesse Peretz in a coffee shop in LA, my new home; and travel frequently to Jersey to visit Kelly Stupple, who made me godmother to her gorgeous little pumpkin Leah Dewey.

So... this is kind of a do-it-yourself project. I've set up the basic blog, and here's how it works:

Everyone I've invited has "host" priveleges, which means you can add other people and also post new items and comments. (Blogger is way easy to use, but let me know if you have questions.) Perhaps down the road we'll have something more sophisticated, a super-duper website online community calendar listing. But, considering this only took me 20 minutes to bang out (most of it searching for pictures on the Harvard website) it's a good place to start.

So: bring other Adamsians back to the fold. And let us know what you're up to.

By the way: was thrilled to see that the drag ball tradition continues, and saddened to see that tutor Janet Viggiani died of cancer.

Hope to see/hear from you soon.

Best,
Farai
